Cat in the Hat party
Jessca’s 2nd birthday party was a “CAT IN THE HAT” theme and took place in January slap bang in the middle of the very wet patch we had in JHB so we had to have it indoors!
Venue - The garage was the only space we had and it turned out pretty well.
Food - Braodacres Spar provided platters of biscuits and cheese, fresh cut fruit and sushi to snack on – normally I would have done it myself but with a new born in the house I thought I could splurge.
Decorations - We got plain party hats and cups in red and blue and used cat in the hat stickers to integrate them to our theme. The sweet table center piece, cat in the hat table cloth, and themed party pack boxes as well as my husband’s hat and Jessca’s themed t-shirt were sent by my mom in Texas. We bought 40 helium filled balloons in red, white, black and blue to cover the ceiling and a “happy birthday” bunting in primary colours.
Entertainment - We hired ride on’s from kiddie rides who were fantastically helpful when I called at the very last possible minute! The kids LOVED them and getting two was a must! We had a bubble machine filled with strawberry scented bubble fluid which elicited loads of smiles and giggles from all 5 children and their parents.
I gave each of the children a plain coloured t-shirt from Ackerman’s to wear for the party as one of Jessca’s main gifts was an art table which was put to good use with paint and crayons!
To finish off the entertainment we covered one of the walls with white fabric, gave the kids pots of finger paint and let them loose!
The Cake - We finished of the day with a gluten, wheat and dairy free “CAT IN THE HAT” hat cake which Jessca absolutely loved.
I think my little monkey had a good birthday
